What you will need:

  • Cookie cutters

  • Hay (blend of oat and timothy hay)

  • Banana

  • Colorful healthy treats for decorating (optional but can be anything you want as long as it is bunny safe - we used carrots, goji berries, oats, blueberries)

How to make the cookies:

  1. Mash 1 banana

  2. Blend 50g of hay until it is as fine/coarse as you like. We made ours with small bits so that it would still be fibrous and good for filing down Mochi's teeth as she eats.

  3. Gradually combine blended hay with banana until a thick consistency is reached (not too watery but also wet enough to pack tightly into a shape)

  4. Pack in the "dough" into a cookie cutter of your choice and make sure to push down the mixture to make a dense cookie. If it is too loose, it is more likely to break apart once dry.

  5. Decorate your cookies with cut up goji berries, oats, carrots, or any other treats (optional). For a healthier cookie, you may opt not to decorate with treats

  6. Dry in the dehydrator or oven on low heat (We heated our oven to 70°C and kept the cookies in there for 4-5 hours until they were thoroughly dry)

  7. Feed to professional food taster and hope for the best!

Pro tip: You can feed cookie "batter" for taste testing while making to see if any adjustments need to be made.
